Spring is Here, It's Time to Have Your Audi Maintained!

Yes, the phrase "spring cleaning" is often used around this time of year and, when it comes to your car, this statement couldn't be any truer! Your new or pre-owned Audi probably saw a lot of action driving on the snowy and salty roads this season, so we here at Audi Colombia want to help you get your Audi coupe, convertible or SUV looking and feeling better than ever, so let's take a look at a few spring cleaning tips and services that you should look at for your Audi model. Spring cleaning is an important part of increasing your Audi model's longevity and resale value, and the service center at Audi Colombia is here to guide you through every step of it. We're located in Columbia and we're proudly serving the Lexington and Irmo areas of South Carolina as well.

  • Changing oil and oil filter: An oil change is one of the most basic services for any car, luxury or otherwise, but it is one of the most important. You should schedule an oil change at least once a year to keep your engine running without issue and to prevent long-term engine damage.
  • Check/Fix the windshield: While you might not notice it at first, your windshield may have taken some damage from ice, sand or rocks which are especially prevalent when driving on freshly-salted roads. Even if the damage incurred seems minuscule, any damage done to the windshield could decrease the overall effectiveness of it as well as the roof, seatbelts or airbags in the event of an accident.
  • Check your battery/charging system: Colder temperatures can put a drain on the battery in your Audi, so be sure to have it tested to make sure it is still adequately charged and free from damage, corrosion or loose connections, all of which can occur in the winter season. If the battery on your Audi model is more than five years old, you should consider having it replaced.
  • Check your belts/hoses: The belts and hoses in your Audi are made from rubber, which is known to harden or crack in colder temperatures, so it is ideal to have these components checked to make sure they aren't crashed, leaking, blisters, softened or otherwise damaged.
  • Check your tires: This is another crucial component of spring cleaning as many of you are already coming in to swap out your studded winter tires for new ones. If you already have all-season tires mounted or in storage it is essential that you check them to ensure they carry a decent tread. The best way to test this is by putting a copper penny in one of the larger grooves running down the center of the tire. If President Lincoln's head is completely covered by the groove, it means your tire has a lot of tread and is in good condition!
